How do I recover data in LabChart?

If data has been lost within LabChart 8, for example, due to one of the following:

  • Closing LabChart 8 without saving
  • LabChart crashed, and no recovery option was provided upon restarting, or you accidentally selected ‘No (Delete File)’
  • Unknown corruption

you should contact ADInstruments Technical Support as soon as possible, as the LabChart backup files are only temporary. Please provide the following information to speed up your recovery when contacting technical support.

  • A zip folder of the ADILCDiskBuffers folder, found in:
    • Mac at: ~/Library/Application Support/ADInstruments/LabChart 8/ADILCDiskBuffers
    • Windows: C:/Users/"username"/appdata/Local/Temp/ADILCDiskBuffer  (Where the "username" is replaced by your user login name on the computer), or, Or by copying  %localAppData%/Temp into the Address Bar as seen below:
  • If available, the affected LabChart data file (.adicht)
  • The date, time of day, and time zone in which the data was lost

While we do our best to recover the file, we can’t guarantee it will be possible, and we cannot assist in file recovery using earlier versions of LabChart. The earliest version we can attempt to recover data is v8.1.9 or later.
