Ode to physiology poetry competition – Part 1 Congratulations to the Winners

In autumn of 2014, we were proud to sponsor a poetry competition run by the UK Physiological Society in conjunction with Biology week.  The challenge was to write an “Ode to physiology” and was open to two student age groups: under 11’s and under 19’s.

Both age groups provided many interesting, entertaining, and scientifically accurate poems with a high standard of writing. Choosing winners in each group was very difficult for the judges with so many great entries!  I’m sure you’ll find the winners just as entertaining as we did – please read them in the links below. Congratulations to both winners and all of those who entered!

Under 11

Under 19

We would also like to congratulate Alexander Baines as the ADInstruments overall poetry competition prize winner - we really liked your clever and informative poem.  Alex will receive a visit to his school from our support team, who will demonstrate a range of Physiological experiments using our teaching kits.  We will be making a trip to Alexander’s school, Loxton Primary School, in the summer term to demonstrate some exercise based experiments, which fit nicely with their summer term lessons on “Keeping Healthy”. It’s going to be a fun day – we’re looking forward to it!
